Vicki Kenny recovered from Hashimoto's

My story

Who am I?

My name is Vicki Kenny and I am a CEO and a passionate horse owner.

I published my own Health Magazine about a decade ago when digital magazines were brand new.

I was also a Wellness Coach for a few years and I helped many people
lose weight, and feel so much better. Other than that I’m just a woman
with an autoimmune disease who spent 12 years finding out what to do to feel completely alive again.

I have Hashimotos Thyroid Disease. I found out in 2009. Thinking back on the ten or so years before that, at least - I am sure I had it for a lot longer and didn’t realise it.

For years I suffered with extreme tiredness every morning. Whole days with a complete lack of energy.  Debilitating heavy periods. My hair was falling out at a rapid rate. I had excruciating joint pain and carpal tunnel syndrome on my arms.

Add to that over 20 food intolerances, and the embarrassing fluid retention on my legs.

The "pregnant look" like bloating. The excruciating monthly migraines and
stubborn weight gain.

Sounds miserable right?

It was!

I was not ready to give my life up to an autoimmune disease. I knew too
much about how your body truly can heal with the right conditions.

My Mum has Hashimotos and so does my uncle (her brother) and her
mother - my grandmother. I didn’t take any notice of it when Mum got her diagnosis - I didn’t know what it was, so I ignored it. I was young.

Until one day in my never-ending quest to feel better, I went to a herbalist. She suggested I had an under-active thyroid. I still didn’t pay too much attention, but it reminded me of Mum’s diagnosis so I called her up and asked her about it.

She didn’t know much about what caused it or how you could feel better. She was taking synthetic thyroid replacement medication and that was the end of it.

Well!

I was much more curious than that, and much more into taking control of my own health. I am also a researcher at heart. So I embarked on this 12-year adventure into health and wellness and Hashimotos! I tried out, and left, many doctors, nutritionists and naturopaths.

I tried exercising more, doing HIIT workouts and then yoga daily. I tried everything, until something worked. Then I kept trying other things until something else worked.

After I received my diagnosis of Hashimoto's Disease I searched everywhere for answers. I looked for information on how to control it and how to heal it.

There was so much information out there it was overwhelming beyond belief.

My diagnosing holistic doctor told me to give up gluten, soy, dairy and coffee which would help.

He didn’t say how it would help or why I needed to.

I spent close to 12 years reading books from experts, scientists and doctors until I figured out a plan.

I tried everything, read everything, and came through the other side. So I now know what works and what doesn't!

I went from spending hundreds of dollars on supplements that were doing nothing for me, to having a plan. It was great to feel like I knew what to do.

I could not get out of bed most mornings before 8.30am at a push. On the weekends you’d be lucky to get me out of bed before 11am. I felt tired all day till about 4pm when I would get a burst of energy. That would take me through to midnight and then the whole routine would start over.

But - I healed my candida. I healed my allergies apart from two things. I healed my leaky gut. I am no longer the Hashimotos person with brain fog, never-ending tiredness and excess weight.

My mission now is to help as many other women like you as I can in the hope that will help you cut a few years off your healing journey.

I hope my site helps you as much as it has helped me.

I am not a doctor or a scientist but in some ways that’s a good thing.

I want to explain this in a simple and uncomplicated way.

It’s my journey from feeling awful to living a beyond-normal life. I don’t want to replace any medical advice - I just want to add my experience to your story so that you heal faster.

My hair grew back, and I shed 25kgs. I wake up every day between 6.30am and 7am without an alarm and I don’t feel like rolling over and going back to sleep. My food intolerances have gone and now that my body is healthy it effortlessly stays at a stable weight.

Hallelujah!

I am at a weight now which I had not been at since the early 1990s. My adrenal fatigue has gone, my candida is gone, and my leaky gut has completely healed. And it didn't take that long once I found the secret weapons!

Life has so much to offer when you are awake (with energy) at 6am.

When you can get an incredible amount accomplished in one day without collapsing in an exhausted heap - it feels wonderful.
